20th Century Fox has taken the lid of Taken 2, the sequel to the surprise 2009 hit starring Liam Neeson. On top of the two new images you see in this post we also have word on the film’s plot in which Neeson will return as Bryan Mills. Neeson spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently and had this to say:
“I’ve taken a job over in Istanbul looking after a sheik who is there, and afterward I discover that my wife’s going through a very bad time with her new husband. So I suggest she and my daughter come over for a few days and hang out with me in this amazing city. And then… [laughs] all this shit happens, of course.”
“The action is supposed to take place about a year or a year and a half after the first story. It’s a very clever sequel with the usual thrills and spills, but the ante is upped quite a bit in this one… I took out a lot of Albanian guys [in the first film] — smugglers and sex traffickers. They met grisly ends. So now it’s their uncles, brothers, fathers, who have motive to find this guy, come hell or high water.”
The film is being directed by Olivier Megaton (Colombiana, Transporter 3) and Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen are both returning as his daughter and ex-wife respectively.
Fox has already set an October 5 release for the film and I think it’s safe to assume a trailer is just around the corner.
I have included the second of the two new images directly below and you can click here to view both in their original, uncropped sizes.
