‘The Bourne Legacy’ Teaser Poster

A lackluster teaser poster for The Bourne Legacy has arrived online courtesy of Cine 1, which basically tells us everything we already know; the film stars Jeremy Renner, opens on August 3, 2012 and is called The Bourne Legacy. Other than that, we get the tagline “Prepare for the unexpected,” to which I say… “Okay.”

We did learn a few more things about the film at the end of last week when the first look at Renner as Aaron Cross debuted (see that here). Little else is known about Cross or the film outside of the fact Matt Damon will not be returning for this film as Jason Bourne, though the film exists in that same world and we are assured by writer/director Tony Gilroy that Jason Bourne is “very much alive”.

Cross’s story is actually triggered by the events of the first three films and I can only assume the hope is sometime down the line Cross’s path will meet with Bourne’s should the new wrinkle in the franchise prove successful at the box-office.

So without any more delay, check out the uneventful poster below and stay tuned as I expect we’ll be getting more looks at the film shortly as filming is currently underway with Renner being joined by fellow newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac as well as franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprising their roles from previous films.

Poster has been removed at the studio’s request
