Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5 and Complete Series
Universal sent over copies of the second half of the fourth season of “Battlestar Galactica” as well as a Blu-ray copy of the massive complete series collection, but my coverage of Comic Con prevented me from finishing the fourth season of the show and I also have someone else reviewing the second half of the fourth season who was also bogged down with Comic Con, but we will have reviews of these up soon. That said, I must tell you the complete series box set of “Battlestar Galactica” is immensely impressive in terms of packaging. It is certainly a little big, but die-hard fans of this show will definitely want to take a look at this one if you haven’t yet purchased any of the individual season sets yet. It comes with all four of the BSG seasons as well as Razor and all the special features. It also has a little Cylon action figure, which you can see in the image to the left. I’ll have more in my full review, which I will hopefully have up by the end of the week.
Repulsion (Criterion Collection)
This was the one title I was able to get to since Criterion sent the review copy over early enough for me to get to it and you can read that full review right here. If you don’t want to read the full report I will say here this is one hell of a thriller as you sit back and watch a crazy woman go even crazier. Directed by Roman Polanski and starring Catherine Deneuve, this is a hard one to overlook if you like great films.
Dollhouse – The Complete First Season
I haven’t seen a single episode of this show, but I did overhear a couple of people on my plane flight back to Seattle from San Diego saying they enjoyed the show and how it has improved since it first aired. I also know everyone loves Joss Whedon so I am sure the built-in audience has already got this one on pre-order… if that’s you how about sharing with the rest of us in the comments your thoughts on the show and why people should pick it up. Or not pick it up, whatever the case may be.
Fast and Furious
I will also be reviewing the Blu-ray version of this one as it was another title I couldn’t get to due to Comic Con. I know it is commonplace to make fun of this franchise and this movie, but it delivered on exactly what I expected when I saw it in the theaters and I enjoyed it. However, I have yet to watch it again and I am thinking the mountain tunnel sequences are going to annoy me a little more than they did in theaters as they really came off as a poor man’s Star Wars pod race… We’ll see.
I’ve heard nothing good about this film, but it is coming to DVD and Blu-ray and I know the fanbase is out there. So here it is, get it while it’s hot… or wait a while and pick it up in the bargain bin in a few weeks.
Miss March (Unrated Fully Exposed)
After seeing I Love You Beth Cooper and telling a couple of other movie reviewers here in Seattle I thought it was the worst film I had seen all year, one of them piped up and said Miss March held those honors for them. I haven’t seen it, but word on this one was never good… Buyer beware.
