Big is Back for ‘Sex and the City 2’

Back in mid-April I reported on a storyline for Sex and the City 2, which relied on the return of Chris Noth as Mr. Big, the character who ended up marrying Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) at the end of the first film, but in the report from The Age they believed the storyline may be scrapped since Noth had not yet signed. Considering the fact the first film was pretty much dedicated to his character this was a crazy notion and today Variety proves it as such.

Noth has just signed a seven-figure deal to return as Mr. Big for the sequel which is set to begin filming early September for a May 28, 2010 release for Warner Bros. Noth joins the four returning ladies — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon — in the film, which still doesn’t have an official plotline, but here is the skinny as rumored around the web.

The rumored storyline for Samantha [Cattrall] will have her cutting back on spending after some of her investments get wiped out. She will have to learn how to survive on a more modest budget all while staying true to her “fabulous” taste. While this is going on, Big loses a lot of money and takes a job in London, living alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Big gets really low and ends up in bed with another woman. After she leaves him Carrie discovers she is pregnant.

Of course, those are just rumored storylines, as we wait to find out the real skinny.
