Chan No Fan of ‘Rush Hour’ Franchise?

Well, I think you can consider a Rush Hour 4 out of the question as Jackie Chan has officially looked at his $500+ million franchise and said, “I felt very disappointed.” Not words you want to hear from the star of a film franchise that made over a half-billion dollars here in the States and a boatload more overseas.

Chan was quoted at Yahoo commenting on the first film in the franchise saying, “When we finished filming, I felt very disappointed because it was a movie I didn’t appreciate and I did not like the action scenes involved. I felt the style of action was too Americanized and I didn’t understand the American humor.”

Yahoo said the quote came from a blog entry on his site, but since they didn’t link to it I couldn’t actually find it after a quick search. The site does go on to quote him in regards to Rush Hour 3, which earned $211+ million worldwide saying, “Nothing particularly exciting stood out that made this movie special for me … I spent four months making this film and I still don’t fully understand the humor.”

The site also says that Chan showed little enthusiasm for his latest Hollywood project, The Forbidden Kingdom, which marks his first on-screen collaboration with fellow action star Jet Li.

If anyone can find where he said these things on jackiechan.com then please let me know, because I can’t find these remarks anywhere.
