#1 movie predicted correctly: Three weeks in a row
1. Superbad
I don’t feel great about this pick because though it’s buzzy it has even less star power than Knocked Up. But that one did win the weekend and this one will too. By about four percent.
Estimate: $25.2 million
2. Rush Hour 3
This has got to bleed over half, right? It’s got too. It’s not that good. Superbad is better. Let’s make this happen people.
Estimate: $24.2 million
The 53 percent drop from its opening weekend threw me a bit. I know it must have gotten good word of mouth so I think it was more of a case of people not waiting to see it.
Estimate: $19.2 million
4. The Invasion
Nicole Kidman is too damn pasty white. There, I said it. I don’t care who knows anymore, it’s true. Oh, also, the movie is just so-so with so-so marketing and it will do sort of okay. This is vanilla at its finest.
Estimate: $12.5 million
5. Stardust
I still want to believe that word of mouth will carry it and I’ve come across a few people lately who really liked it. Unfortunately most of these people are super shy. So they’re not helping much.
Estimate: $5.8 million
It passed its production budget at some point last week and now I’m guessing they’re aiming for the marketing budget. How much does buying 7-11 cost? Hundred bucks?
Estimate: $4.9 million
This is an odd title and truly one I know not a thing about. And if I don’t know anything about it that’s not good. Not too good at all.
Estimate: $4.5 million
8. Hairspray
I recently heard of someone asking for a production budget that wasn’t listed… and the studio giving it to him! It was so odd. I’m not ready to start calling studios yet but I’m intrigued.
Estimate: $3.8 million
10. Chuck and Larry
The joke is that they’re not gay. Do you get it? It’s hysterical, trust me.
Estimate: $3.1 million
