Paul Walker’s Final Movie Suddenly Finds Resurgence on Streaming

A blockbuster from one of Hollywood’s biggest action franchises is racing back into the spotlight. Years after its theatrical run, the film has found fresh momentum with streaming audiences. Its comeback also carries extra meaning, as the film features the final performance of Paul Walker, one of the franchise’s most beloved stars, before he passed away.

Furious 7 reemerges on Peacock’s streaming charts

According to FlixPatrol, Furious 7 has climbed into Peacock’s Top 10 Movies in the United States. The action hit continues to attract fans more than a decade after its release, proving that the franchise still has plenty of horsepower on streaming.

Released in 2015, the film follows Dominic Toretto and his crew as they face Deckard Shaw, an assassin seeking revenge for his brother. The high-stakes chase sends the team across several countries while delivering the franchise’s trademark mix of fast cars and over-the-top daring stunts. Directed by James Wan, the movie was produced by Universal Pictures, Original Film, and One Race Films.

The cast includes the likes of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Kurt Russell. Produced on an estimated $190 million budget, the film became a massive global success, earning about $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. It also received strong audience support, holding a 7.1/10 rating on IMDb, an 81% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and an 82% audience score.

The film means even more to fans because it marks Paul Walker’s final performance as Brian O’Conner. Walker died in a car accident in November 2013, at the age of 40, before filming was finished. To complete his remaining scenes, the production used visual effects along with the help of his brothers, Caleb and Cody Walker.

Beyond the Fast & Furious series, Walker built a career with films including Into the Blue, Joy Ride, Eight Below, Running Scared, Timeline, and Varsity Blues.
