300, directed by Zack Snyder, has emerged as a streaming hit on the platform Vudu. This comes after the release of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which has reignited interest in both historical fantasy and swords and sandals action movies.
According to Flix Patrol, as of July 24, 300 has claimed the top spot on Vudu’s top movies list in the United States. The movie has been reigning in the spot for close to 20 days now. It has surpassed the likes of The Super Mario Bros Movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Disclosure Day, and many more.
Released in 2007, 300 featured a massive star cast involving Gerard Butler, Rodrigo Santoro, Michael Fassbender, Lena Headey, and many more. Made on a reported budget of $65 million, the movie did exceptionally well at the box office, amassing over $456 million. At the domestic box office, the movie collected around $210 million, whereas internationally, 300 grossed close to $245 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Although critics had a slightly mixed opinion of 300, general audiences highly praised the movie. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a decent score of 61 percent on the Tomatometer based on reviews from critics. On the other hand, it has a more robust score of 89 percent on the Popcornmeter based on audience reviews.
A sequel to 300 was released in 2014, though Snyder did not return to direct it.
