Christopher Nolan’s James Bond & Fast & Furious Favorites Are Wildly Unexpected

Christopher Nolan surprised both James Bond and Fast & Furious fans recently. The Oscar-winning director revealed his favorite movies from both franchises. His choices were not what many fans expected either.

Christopher Nolan picks his favorite James Bond and Fast and Furious movies

Christopher Nolan recently spoke with Josh Horowitz about The Odyssey. During the interview, he revealed his favorite James Bond movie. Nolan picked On Her Majesty’s Secret Service without much hesitation.

He said, “My favorite Bond film is On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, as anyone who’s seen Inception can probably figure out.” The 1969 movie starred George Lazenby as James Bond. It was the actor’s only film as the iconic spy.

Later, Nolan was asked about the Fast & Furious franchise. He admitted he has enjoyed those movies for years. Nolan said, “I’m sort of original recipe. I mean, The Fast and the Furious original. But I’ve got a very soft spot for Tokyo Drift, actually.”

He also praised how the franchise kept getting bigger later. Nolan said, “And then the skill, as, you know, the Justin Lin iterations, you know, as they got crazier and bigger and crazier and bigger, they became something else, but something else kind of fun.”

“The fun thing about those movies is, even as they’ve gotten bigger and bigger and bigger, as sequels have to do, everyone always complains that sequels get bigger, but we are the people making sequels bigger. We do want them bigger. You don’t want them smaller.”

The filmmaker even referenced Alien 3 during the discussion. Nolan said, “It’s the Alien 3 lesson that David Fincher, you can do it, but it’s not going to make anybody happy.” He then admitted, “Personally, I love that film a lot more than he does, I think.”

While Nolan picked the original The Fast and the Furious overall, Tokyo Drift clearly holds a special place, too. The film featured a completely different cast and story. That made it one of the franchise’s most unique entries.
