Masters of the Universe Prime Video Release Date Set for New He-Man Movie

Masters of the Universe is heading to Prime Video sooner than expected. Less than two months after its theatrical debut, the live-action He-Man movie has locked in its streaming release date.

When Does Masters of the Universe Begin Streaming on Prime Video?

Anyone with a Prime Video subscription will be able to stream Masters of the Universe beginning July 22, 2026. The movie was released worldwide on June 5, 2026, and had a mediocre run at the box office. Hyped up as He-Man’s long-awaited return to the big screen, Travis Knight’s superhero film grossed nearly $113 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $200 million.

Nicholas Galitzine-led film earned $29.3 million in North America and $25 million internationally in the opening weekend, wrapping up at a $54 million worldwide collection from 86 markets. It was also outperformed by Scary Movie 6, which was released on the same day.

Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) is led back to Eternia by the Sword of Power. However, after returning 15 years later, Prince Adam finds his home in ruins. Skeletor (Jared Leto), the film’s main antagonist, has tightened his grip on Eternia, with its people suffering and craving freedom. To save his home, Prince Adam teams up with Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan (Idris Elba). The film follows Prince Adam’s journey as he overcomes overwhelming odds and embraces his destiny as He-Man.

The film is based on Mattel’s Masters of the Universe franchise, which debuted in 1982. The film was directed by Travis Knight from a screenplay by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, Chris Butler, and Dave Callaham. Following the original 1987 live-action film, this marks the franchise’s second live-action adaptation. Interestingly, Amazon MGM Studios also set a Guinness World Record for the largest drone light show as part of the film’s marketing campaign on May 19, 2026.
