Warner Bros. and New Line Pictures officially expand with another supernatural spin-off. The studio has also moved the new movie’s release date in the Conjuring Universe by six weeks.
New Conjuring Universe Horror Movie Gets Release Date Bumped Up
According to Warner Bros., the new movie is titled The Revenge of La Llorona. It was originally scheduled to open on April 9, 2027, but now the studio has moved the release date up by six weeks to February 26, 2027.
The film is directed by Santiago Menghini and written by Sean Tretta. Producers Emile Gladstone, Gary Dauberman, and James Wan are back for the sequel, while Mia Maniscalco, Jamie Buckner, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott serve as executive producers.
The film serves as a sequel to 2019’s supernatural horror, The Curse of La Llorona. Jay Hernandez and Monica Raymund will lead the cast. Raymond Cruz returns as the curandero from the original, and other cast members include Martín Fajardo, Acston Luca Porto, Avie Porto, and Edy Ganem.
The story follows a fractured family forced to reunite when the vengeful spirit La Llorona returns. To protect their children from the legendary Weeping Woman, they must work alongside their estranged curandero (Raymond Cruz), their grandfather, and confront long-buried secrets while battling ancient supernatural forces.
The Revenge of La Llorona marks the latest entry in the Conjuring Universe, which began with The Conjuring in 2013. Since then, the franchise has expanded with films such as Annabelle, The Nun, The Conjuring 2, and The Curse of La Llorona. Together, the series has earned more than $2.2 billion at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing horror franchise of all time.
With this film, the studio continues to expand the franchise beyond the stories of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Horror fans can find out what the Weeping Woman has in store when the film arrives in theatres on February 26, 2027.
