When is the digital release date for Disclosure Day?
Spielberg’s Disclosure Day will be released on digital and video-on-demand platforms on July 21, 2026. Audiences can watch the sci-fi movie on Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, and other digital platforms.
The 2026 alien film centers on the meteorologist Margaret Fairchild, who becomes possessed by an alien entity. She gains the inexplicable ability to speak every language and learn the deepest secrets of complete strangers. Fairchild teams up with cybersecurity expert Daniel to uncover a decades-long alien cover-up.
The film has been well-received by both fans and critics. Some critics praised the film as “pursuit of optimism in an age of conspiracy.” It currently holds an 80% Tomatometer score and a 70% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. Many viewers praised the movie for its “deep exploration of human connection resonates with remarkable reach.”
Richard Brody from The New Yorker wrote, “Spielberg’s vision in Disclosure Day suggests audacity, even recklessness, two qualities that have often been wanting in his movies. There’s a sense of freedom, of a work pulled from deep within.”
Some viewers, however, found the movie’s ending abrupt, with some claiming, “nothing was disclosed.” However, the ending has also left room for discussion among moviegoers about Disclosure Day 2.
The film earned $44.5 million domestically during its opening weekend and has grossed $229.1 million worldwide, as of now. It was created on an estimated budget of $115 million.
Spielberg also co-wrote the film’s story, while David Koepp wrote the screenplay. Alongside Blunt, the movie also stars Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, Colin Firth, Wyatt Russell, and Colman Domingo. Kristie Macosko Krieger and Spielberg served as the movie’s producers. The film is still playing in select theaters ahead of its digital release.
