Transformers One is directed by Josh Cooley, who previously helmed 2019’s Toy Story 4. Cooley also wrote the script for 2015’s Inside Out and worked as a storyboard artist on a number of other Pixar movies, including 2004’s The Incredibles, 2006’s Cars, 2007’s Ratatouille, and 2009’s Up.

The voice cast of Transformers One includes Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as D-16/Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.

The script was written by Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Steve Desmond, and Michael Sherman. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian, and Aaron Dem serve as producers on Transformers One.

According to Deadline, Transformers One is an origin story set on Cybertron that explores the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

How many Transformers movies have there been?

Following 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie (which was based on the Transformers television series), Michael Bay made the first live-action Transformers movie starring Shia LaBeouf in 2007. That was followed by 2009’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, and 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight, all of which were directed by Bay.

Travis Knight’s Bumblee was then released in 2018, followed by Steven Capble Jr.’s Transformers: Rise of the Beast in 2023. Another live-action movie from Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto is also in the works, while a crossover with the G.I. Joe film series is also being planned.

Transformers One releases in United States theaters on September 13, 2024, from Paramount Pictures.
