The Spot Across the Spider-Verse

Deleted Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Post-Credit Scene Detailed

A Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse post-credits scene was deleted from the film.

The new Sony Pictures Animation and Marvel animated superhero film has been a huge success among critics and audiences. However, viewers have found that there is no end-credits scene in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This is rare for Marvel films, which popularized the use of post-credits scenes starting with Iron Man in 2008.

However, writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller detailed a post-credits scene that was written, but ultimately landed on the cutting room floor. Early in the film, there would have been a scene where The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) hangs out at a Spider-Man villain bar, but he cannot get a drink because nobody notices him.

“And then he finally steals the drink for himself, and he pours it down, and it all leaks out of his holes,” Lord said to IndieWire. “He’s the dorkiest villain. A great line that Chris wrote, though: ‘Trying to fill a hole in his heart with more holes.’ Not a great method.”

The post-credits scene would then feature The Spot, who becomes a more powerful villain over the course of the film, returning to the same bar and destroying all of the villains there. The scenes were ultimately cut, and instead, the film contains one title card that confirms that Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

When is the next Spider-Verse movie coming out?

Spider-Man; Beyond the Spider-Verse is currently set to release on March 29, 2024, and it will conclude the Miles Morales trilogy.

“After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence,” reads the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse synopsis. “However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
