Kevin Spacey is attempting to return to the world of movies after sexual assault and misconduct allegations, as his latest film, Peter Five Eight, is set to appear before buyers at Cannes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is completed with Spacey in a leading role, and will be screened in the Cannes market. Not too much is known about the film, although a brief description notes that Spacey plays the role of Peter, a charismatic man in a black sedan who shows up one day in a small, mountainside town.

Alongside Spacey, the film also features Jet Jandreau, who plays Sam, “a glamorous real estate agent who is revealed to be an unhinged and troubled alcoholic with a dark secret,” and Rebecca De Mornay, who plays Brenda, someone Peter targets for information at the behest of his shadowy boss, Mr. Lock.

The film was reportedly shot in September 2021 in Siskiyou County, California, and according to director Michael Zaiko Hall, Spacey was no problem on set. “Kevin was a joy to work with, kept everyone laughing between takes, and delivered what I think will be a surprising treat for his fans,” Hall said in an email to The Hollywood Reporter.

For Spacey, this will mark the second film of his that is set to be shopped at the Cannes Film Festival, with his other — 1242 – Gateway To The West — also appearing at the show ahead of its projected production start in October 2022.

Once heralded as a legendary actor, Spacey’s career came to a screeching halt in 2017, when he was accused of making sexual advances on then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp (an actor who appeared in a Broadway show with Spacey) in 1986. More allegations came forward following that, leading to Netflix cutting ties with Spacey on their planned film Gore, as well as removing him from the final season of the series House of Cards.
