Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Merch Hints at Villain’s MCU Debut

Not much has been revealed about Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but a recent puzzle may have hinted at one of the villains coming to the film.

A recent photo of a new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness puzzle set and adult coloring pad made its way onto Australian bookstore website, Booktopia. It teases Doctor Strange facing off against none other than Shuma-Gorath, one of the most iconic villains in the world of Doctor Strange and is set to come out on April 1, 2022, just over a month before its May 6, 2022 theatrical release date.

This isn’t the first time that Shuma-Gorath has been rumored to appear in the upcoming sequel, but it is the first time that we’re seeing actual images of the Cthulhu-esque eldritch being appearing on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merchandise. While this doesn’t necessarily confirm anything, it does hint heavily at the possibilities of the creature appearing.

Described as the first MCU horror film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the return of Cumberbatch as he reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. This time the Sorcerer Supreme will be joined by Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, who is coming off from the critical success of WandaVision. The sequel is expected to tie into the events from WandaVisionLoki and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The sequel will also feature MCU alums Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, who are reprising their roles as Karl Mordo, Wong, and Dr. Christine Palmer, respectively. It will also feature the introduction of the live-action debut of fan-favorite Marvel hero America Chavez, who will be portrayed by newcomer Xochitl Gomez (The Baby-Sitters Club).
