Kevin Hart’s Fatherhood Adds Barry’s Anthony Carrigan

The past few years have proven to be huge for Anthony Carrigan after landing celebrated roles in Fox’s Gotham and HBO’s Barry and he looks to keep this streak going as he has signed on to star in the upcoming Kevin Hart-led adaptation of Two Kisses for Maddy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The novel, published by Grand Central Publishing in April 2011, followed Logelin as he and his daughter Madeline move to India for two months when his wife and her mother Liz and their experiences living in another state, along with Logelin’s struggles with solo parenting so early into Maddy’s life. Carrigan has signed on to star as Logelin’s quirky best friend.

Lifetime had previously optioned the rights to the novel in 2012 for a television film adaptation, but nothing ever came of the project and now Sony Pictures has gained the rights to the project and have not only acquired Hart to star but have also signed on Paul Weitz (Mozart in the Jungle) to direct and rewrite a majority of Dana Stevens’ (City of Angels) screenplay.

“When I started reading this script, I was immediately touched and brought to tears,” Hart said in a statement. “At HartBeat, we seek to provide the audience with stories that evoke true emotions and this story does just that. Our hope is to bring honor to the Logelin family, and we are thrilled to be working with Sony, Paul, Temple Hill and Free Association on such an incredible project.”
