BTS’ golden maknae, Jungkook, has taken his image as a global icon to another level with his solo career. 2023 has turned out to be a breakout year for the artist. His new single “Seven,” which was a collaboration with American rapper Latto, topped the Billboard Hot 100. The song also became Billboard’s No. 1 global song of the summer.
Jungkook continues his winning streak with his mega-hit “Seven” ft. Latto by bagging the Top Global K-pop Song award at the Billboard Music Awards 2023. As a member of BTS, the K-pop idol already won a total of twelve Billboard Music Awards in the past. However, this new addition is significant in his music career, given it is his first win as a solo artist at the BBMAs.
Jungkook expresses gratitude for his win at BBMAs for ‘Seven’ ft. Latto
The category of the Top Global K-pop Song is one of the nine new award categories at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. It means that Jeon Jung-Kook, or Jungkook, is the category’s debut winner. The youngest member of BTS recorded his acceptance speech for the award at BBMAs 2023. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the award and thanked his fans (ARMY).
In his recorded speech, he said, “Hi, this is Jung Kook of BTS. Thank you so much for the Top Global K-Pop song for ‘Seven.’ It’s truly an honor. It’s very hard to express my gratitude in words. Thank you ARMY and everyone who love this song. Without you I couldn’t have got this amazing award.” He continued, “While we’re working on ‘Seven’ I hope everyone could enjoy this track so the fact that I won this category means a lot to me. I’m so glad to share great music with everyone and thank you again Billboard for this award.”
Latto also gave a speech for his first BBMAs win alongside Jungkook. The rapper said, “Thank you God. Thank you, Jung Kook. Obviously, none of this would be possible without you. Shout out to the ARMY shout out to my Jackpots. We love y’all. Thank y’all for the continued support. My first Billboard Music Award. Yeah, I was nominated last year for the first time and I performed for the first time—and now I’m taking something home, you feel me. And my fans–thank you to my fans.”
