K-Dramas Like Gyeongseong Creature: Sweet Home, All of Us Are Dead & More

K-dramas like Gyeongseong Creature have been fans’ favorite genre along with romance comedy. The Park Seo-Joon and Han So-Hee starrer consists of two parts with Part 2 premiering on Friday, January 5, 2024, on Netflix.

Gyeongseong Creature revolves around two polar opposite people, Tae-Sang and Chae-Ok, who come together to find missing people. During their search, they end up in the basement of Ongseong Hospital where the Japanese army turned a person into a monster/creature. The story is set in 1945 when the Japanese ruled over Korea.

Part 1 premiered on December 22, 2023, on Netflix and became an instant hit. Consisting of 10 episodes in total, the final three will air on Friday. This is not the first monster-related storyline that impressed K-drama fans.

Sweet Home

Sweet Home comes first in mind when thinking of K-dramas like Gyeongseong Creature. The 2020 series is about a high school student Cha Hyun-Su (Song Kang) who moves to a new apartment after his family dies in an accident. The depressed teenager initially wanted to end his life but changed his plan after a virus outbreak.

The affected people begin to turn into monsters and mysterious creatures. The residents join forces to survive the apocalypse. The K-drama recently released Sweet Home Season 2 on Netflix.

All of Us Are Dead

All of Us Are Dead is similar to Gyeongseong Creature in terms of storyline related to survival. The K-drama deals with a virus outbreak at a high school turning students and teachers into flesh-eating monsters. The students fight for their lives while the Korean military takes measures to contain the virus within the high school.

All of Us Are Dead season 2 premiered on Netflix in 2023.

Hellbound

Hellbound is one of the K-dramas like Gyeongseong Creature as it also deals with mysterious creatures. The 2021 drama tells the story of supernatural creatures. One day, they suddenly begin to appear and take away human beings to hell. Meanwhile, a cult group named The New Truth gains popularity.

The group spreads the message that the sinners are being taken away by God himself. As the mysterious deaths continue, a detective and his troupe start an intense investigation. The drama is available on Netflix.

Search is a 2020 K-drama based on monster hunting. Sergeant Koo Dong-Jin (Jang Dong-Yoon) and Officer Son Ye-Rim (Krystal) begin their search after reports of a strange monster-like creature circulating in the army surface. They hunt for the creature while trying to survive on the DMZ (dematerialized zone).

Along with the aforementioned cast, the series also features Yoon Park, Lee Hyun-Wook, Choi Yoon-Je, Lee Ha-Yul, and Yu Seong-Ju. It can be streamed on Viki.

The School Nurse Files

The School Nurse Files could be considered a K-drama like Gyeongseong Creature as they both deal with strange creatures. However, the difference is that the 2020 drama is not intense. The story revolves around Ahn Eun-Youngg (Jung Yu-Mi) and Hong In-Pyo (Nam Joo-Hyuk) and their special abilities.

School teacher Eun-Youngg can see monsters created of human desires while Chinese language teacher In-Pyo releases a special energy. They join forces to eradicate the monsters from the school.
