Rowoon’s The Matchmakers Episode 8 Recap & Spoilers: Is Cho Yi-Hyun a Murderer?

Starring Rowoon and Cho Yi-Hyun, The Matchmakers episode 8 premiered on Monday, November 27, 2023, on KBS. The K-drama follows the story of two widowed matchmakers who fall for each other during the Joseon period.

In episode 7, viewers saw Sim Jung-Woo’s (Rowoon) wish to marry Yeo Joo-Daek (Cho Yi-Hyun). He knows that her real name is Jung Soon-Deok and that her husband died five years ago. Episode 8 begins with Jung-Woo risking his life for Joo-Daek and the latter saving him from drowning. 

Throughout episode 8, Jung-Woo’s affection for Joo-Daek has been evident. But things take a complicated turn when he finds out she may have killed the eldest son of the Left State Minister. 

The Matchmakers episode 8 ending: Rowoon accuses Cho Yi-Hyun of murder

The Matchmakers episode 8 starts with Jung-Woo (Rowoon) slowly expressing his likeness for Yeo Joo-Daek (Cho Yi-Hyun). However, Inspector Jung Soon-Goo discovers that Joo-Daek is his sister Soon-Deok.

The matchmakers finally succeed in their mission to eliminate rumors surrounding Lady Ha-Na. Their next goal is to find a husband for the three maidens. Jung-Woo is surprised when Soon-Goo joins them and gets jealous of the inspector and Joo-Daek’s closeness. Meanwhile, Sam-Soon loses patience and asks Soon-Goo whether he likes her and gets disheartened when he refuses.

The episode also shows the Left State Minister, his wife, and others being suspicious of Jung-Woo. 

Towards the end of The Matchmakers episode 8, Jung-Woo’s servant Kim O-Bong encounters a man looking for Joo-Daek. He finds out that she is accused of killing the Left State Minister’s eldest son. O-Bong passes the news to Jung-Woo, who decides to ask Joo-Daek directly.

At the end of episode 8, the lead characters meet at a secluded place where Jung-Woo asks Joo-Daek whether or not she told him the truth about her identity. She thinks that he may have discovered that she is the daughter-in-law of the Left State Minister. For context, she was married to the second son and adopted the eldest son’s child.

Jung-Woo feels betrayed, assuming she is the murderer, and thus ends their contract. The Matchmakers episode 8 ends with Jung-Woo saying, “What excuse can you give me when you are a murderer?”

The Matchmakers airs new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS and Viki.
