NSFW look at the “glam gore” film
I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of François Gaillard and Christophe Robin, but recently, one of their reps fired an e-mail my way with a link to the not-safe-for-work trailer for their latest effort Last Caress along with an 8-minute promo and a handful of images.
The picture is touted as “glam gore” thriller. I’ll just say the trailer is relentless, heaping aggressive violence on top of vibrant settings occasionally filled with beautiful European women.
Somewhere in this fever dream that’s a lavish throwback to Italian giallo fare is the story of five youngsters who just wanted to spend a nice weekend amongst friends in a manor. They find a far less peaceful place than they expected when faced with a family curse and a sadistic ruthless killer. Blinded by their never-ending quest for carnal pleasures they will fail to perceive the flood of blunt violence about to engulf them.
Anna Naigeon, Antony Cinturino, Aurélie Godefroy, Guillaume Beylard and Ioanna Imbert star. Last Caress is being shown off at Cannes this month.
Gaillard and Robin previously directed Blackaria, which is circulating on the film festival circuit.
