Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces: April Fools’ Wrap-Up, The Ward, Trick ‘r Treat, Ju-On

Basket Case, Spawn, Scream 4, Stephen King

Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces is a quick look at stuff we might have missed, viral-related promotions or light newsy bites that are easy to digest.

Got something weird, or a news nugget, to share that fits in with B’nBP? Send it on over to TO ME RIGHT HERE.

• It’s April Fools’ Day, so here is a wrap-up of some of the best gags: Kristen Stewart is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Dread Central is now Geek Terminal (this one should’ve been legit, ha…). Bloody-Disgusting is producing Ghostbusters III. The Super 8 monster has been revealed. Rob Zombie posted some news about Halloween III. Someone duped AvPGalaxy with this Prometheus art (check out the shoulder canon on the Space Jockey). Moviline presents the remake imposter list.

• Basket Case lives on in a new comic strip series published in the pages of Fangoria beginning with issue #304. Artist Joshua Emerick will be responsible for continuing what Frank Henenlotter created.

• The Twitter page for Trick ‘r Treat teased today: “Sam WILL return…” Is a sequel in the works? Or perhaps Sam will be featured in another medium?

• A handful of clips, in Italian, from The Ward can be viewed here.

• The U.S. trailer for WellGo USA’s DVD and Blu-Ray release of Ju-On: White Ghost/Black Ghost arriving on May 17.

• Oh, Lordie Lord, will the Spawn talk never end? For years, Todd McFarlane has teased a new film that was smaller and under his control. Regarding the script, he now tells My DVD Insider:

“I’m three quarters through it. I’ll finish it and put it on a shelf for about a week. What usually happens is, I come back to it so I can see all the flaws. I do a rewrite and there’s a first draft at that point. Then I’ll start soliciting comments from people I trust to see if I can get the script into working shape. If I can’t, I’m open to someone coming in and helping me with it. [A few studios have phoned me to talk about the project] and when I walk into these pitch meetings, I go here’s the story. I give them the broad strokes. Then I go, here’s the non-negotiable part: I write, produce, direct. That’s it.”

Seriously – just let me know when this is a “go” project, Todd.

• Fright-Rags premiered two new t-shirt designs and one “revival” tee.

• Varese Sarabande will release Marco Beltrami’s score for Scream 4. Check out the full track listing right here.

• On the spec script horror market: Wil T. Denson has taken a script out to studios called Feral which is being pitched as No Country for Old Men meets Silence of the Lambs.

• John Mellencamp and Stephen King’s “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” has been listed at the Alliance Theatre site. This is the musical the two legends collaborated on. Apparently it runs April 4 – May 13, 2012. Click on the link for more details!
