Now There’s Pride and Predator?

A period sci-fi horror film from Elton John

I’ve double-checked the date…and it isn’t April 1st, yet Variety reports Rocket Pictures, Elton John’s production outfit, is overseeing Pride and Predator, another spin on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.”

Will Clark (known for his short film “The Amazing Trousers”) is directing from a script he penned with Andrew Kemble and John Pape. The story takes the trappings of the period costume drama and drops an blood-thirsty alien into the mix.

Shooting will begin in London later this year. John exec produces, and his Rocket partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish are producing.

“It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect,” Furnish tells the trade paper.

This announcement comes on the heels of last week’s news regarding the upcoming novel “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”
