High Potential Season 2 Release Date Window, Story, Cast & Things We know

ABC’s hit drama High Potential is officially returning for Season 2, and fans are eager to know what’s in store. The Kaitlin Olson-led crime dramedy became popular with its debut season. With filming already underway and major storyline teases dropped, here’s everything we know so far about High Potential Season 2, from the release date window to the returning cast and plot details.

What is the expected release date of High Potential Season 2?

While ABC hasn’t announced a specific release date for High Potential Season 2, it is confirmed to return in Fall 2025 as part of the network’s new lineup.

Filming began in May, as revealed in a behind-the-scenes Instagram post from the cast. With that timeline in mind, fans can expect a trailer sometime around late summer.

What could be the plot of High Potential Season 2?

High Potential Season 2 will pick up from the major cliffhanger in the Season 1 finale, where Morgan crossed paths with a new villain, played by Grimm alum David Giuntoli. This mysterious figure, who nearly killed Oz, appears to be Morgan’s intellectual equal but uses his gifts for sinister purposes.

Actor Akdeniz confirmed that Season 2 will waste no time diving into this arc. “There’s a serial killer or a game player out on the loose that we have to really resolve, and I think the start of the season will definitely address that,” he told TV Insider. Co-star Javicia Leslie echoed the sentiment, teasing a high-stakes pursuit to bring the killer to justice. Meanwhile, other subplots like Selena Soto’s hunt for Morgan’s ex, Roman, will continue to take their own shape.

Who is in the cast of High Potential Season 2?

Most of the main cast is confirmed to return for High Potential Season 2:

  • Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory
  • Daniel Sunjata as Adam Karadec
  • Javicia Leslie as Daphne Forrester
  • Judy Reyes as Selena Soto
  • Deniz Akdeniz as Lev ‘Oz’ Osman

Morgan’s children, Amirah J’s Ava and Matthew Lamb’s Elliott, are also likely to return, though their inclusion hasn’t been officially confirmed. One major exit is JD Pardo’s Tom, who left the series in the Season 1 finale to pursue nursing school.

As for guest stars, showrunner Todd Harthan told TheWrap that Season 2 will bring in more recurring characters and possibly the return of Jocko Sims as Ronnie Oliver. The mysterious villain David Peck, played by Giuntoli, is expected to play a major role early on.

How many episodes will High Potential Season 2 have?

ABC has increased the episode order for Season 2 to 18 episodes, up from 13 in the first season.
