In September 2022, Hulu announced the crime series and also confirmed that it will span 8 episodes. The cast was released shortly after, with all the major actors getting announced in December of the same year. With principal photography getting wrapped up in May 2023, the series soon got an official release date of April 17, 2024.

The trailer does a masterful job of setting the tone for the miniseries. The video opens with a hoard of investigators looking for the whereabouts of a missing girl, who is made known to be Reena Virk. The focus soon shifts towards a visiting writer, namely Rebecca Godfrey, who arrives in town to complete her book. Through Godfrey’s perspective, the audience gets a brief glimpse into the social nuances of society back then, throwing light on how appearances can be severely deceptive.

Plot – what’s the story about?
The limited series sheds light on the real and gruesome murder of 14-year-old Reena Virk that occurred in 1997 in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada.
The crime miniseries follows Reena Virk’s tragic story as she is found dead after attending a party. Consequently, a group of seven girls and a boy come under suspicion for brutally murdering her. Despite the seemingly straightforward nature of the case, the investigators soon discover that something much more sinister is lurking under the shadows.
Through Virk’s heartbreaking tale, the series also delves into the world of bullying and the devastating impact it has on the concerned victims.
