Why wasn’t Taylor Swift at the Oscars 2024 show?
Taylor Swift was not at the Oscars 2024 probably because she was busy with her international 2024 Eras Tour event.
As per a report from Harper’s Bazaar, Swift did not attend the Oscars 2024 as she was busy with the international leg of her 2024 Eras Tour. The Bad Blood singer recently concluded her shows in Singapore, which is roughly 18 hours away from Los Angeles, where the Oscars event was being held, by flight. Moreover, according to the outlet, Swift’s absence is also attributed to her not being nominated for an Oscar.
However, a producer for the Oscars had earlier Katy Mullan said in an interview with IndieWire that the singer was invited to attend and that they would welcome Taylor Swift to the event and reserve a seat for her. He said:
“Listen, we all love Taylor. She’s the best cheerleader you could ever possibly have in any audience, whether it’s the NFL or an award show. So if she wants to get on a plane and come to the Oscars, then we’ll hold a seat for her, 100 per cent.”
According to Harper’s Bazaar, fans expected Taylor Swift to get an Oscar nomination for her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie. However, much to their dismay, her film was not eligible for a nomination in any category, including the documentary feature category, according to the Academy Award bylaws, which state:
“Works that are essentially promotional or instructional are not eligible, nor are works that are essentially unfiltered records of performances.”
Taylor Swift has reportedly never attended the Oscars events. However, as per Elle, she attended the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party in 2016.
Why didn’t Taylor Swift attend the Vanity Fair Oscar Party?
Taylor Swift did not attend the Vanity Fair Oscar Party as she was in Singapore at the time. Although she wrapped her International Eras Tour event there on March 9, a long trip to L.A. might have been the reason for her absence.
However, ardent fans of Taylor Swift can still expect new content from her, most notably her eleventh studio album The Tortured Poets Department, in the coming months.
