A new rumor points to noted music composer and Werewolf by Night director Michael Giacchino being eyed to direct a Midnight Sons movie for the MCU, and fans are wondering whether there is any truth to it. Here is everything you need to know.
Is Michael Giacchino directing Midnight Suns?
Michael Giacchino is not confirmed to be directing Midnight Sons as of publishing.
According to reputed but semi-reliable scooper and industry insider Daniel RPK (via Patreon), however, Marvel Studios is reportedly looking to secure Michael Giacchino as the director for Midnight Sons. RPK has also claimed that Marvel mainstay producer Stephen Broussard is producing the film.
However, this information regarding Midnight Sons has not come from Marvel Studios themselves. As such this scoop from RPK should be taken with a grain of salt and fans should wait for Marvel or Kevin Feige’s announcements and updates regarding the film.
Michael Giacchino, who composed the soundtracks for Marvel films like Doctor Strange, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the MCU Spider-Man movies, also helmed the Werewolf by Night Halloween special.
Excitement for a Midnight Sons project spiked when Oscar Isaac, the actor behind Moon Knight, recently expressed interest in his character being part of the team at a Middle East Film and Comic Con Event in Abu Dhabi. (via Geek House Show on X).
As of now, not much is known about Midnight Sons apart from what another industry insider Alex Perez (Alex from CC) shared via the Cosmic Circus on December 27, 2023. In his report, Alex revealed that projects like Blade, Moon Knight Season 2, Marvel Zombies, Ironheart, and Werewolf by Night’s continuation would serve as the setup for a Midnight Suns movie and the line-up would feature the likes of Wong and Blade.
Perez also claimed in the report that sources close to him revealed Lilith and Mephisto being considered by Marvel as the big bads of the Midnight Sons film.
