The Lollipop Chainsaw remake has had its release date window pushed back and its official title revealed.

What is the Lollipop Chainsaw remake’s title?

Dragami Games took to Twitter to reveal that the Lollipop Chainsaw remake’s title will be Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Though the remake was originally planned for release in 2023, the studio also announced that the game has been delayed to summer 2024.

“Although development of RePOP was carried out with the intention of a 2023 release, our commitment to providing the best possible quality experience to our players led us to making the hard decision to extend the development period in order to ensure this,” a statement from Dragami Games reads (via IGN.) “We sincerely apologize to all who had been waiting for the latest installment in the Lollipop Chainsaw series, and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.”

You can take a look at the official announcement tweet below:

“Juliet Starling uncovers the root of a zombie outbreak,” reads the game’s synopsis. “She must balance the drama of high school while carrying out her zombie-hunting lineage and chainsaw skills to string together lethal combo moves, taking out scores of the undead.”

The original Lollipop Chainsaw was written by Masahiro Yuki and James Gunn, the latter of whom would go on to write and direct the Guardians of the Galaxy series of films and The Suicide Squad, as well as numerous other projects. It first released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 12, 2012. James Gunn announced on Twitter that neither he nor developer Suda51 are involved in the remake.
