Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sets New Monday Box Office Record

Star Wars: The Force Awakens continued its impressive performance at the Monday box office worldwide! Domestically, the film earned $40.1 million from 4,134 theaters, destroying the previous Monday box office record of $27.7 million set by Spider-Man 2 in the summer of 2004. Internationally, the Lucasfilm release also added $41.7 million, including the highest grossing Mondays ever for Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, UK/Ireland and Ukraine.

In North America, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now reached $288.1 million and overseas it is up to $322.7 million, for a worldwide total of $610.8 million. The movie still has to open in China on January 9.
