Michael Kenneth Williams (“The Wire”, “Boardwalk Empire”) has snatched up a pair of solid upcoming roles, the first pitting him alongside Michael Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed at Fox for director Justin Kurzel. The film, adapted from the video game of the same name co-stars Marion Cotillard and Ariane Labed and centers on a bartender (Fassbender) captured by a secret corporation and sent back in time to relive the memories of his ancestors — all of them assassins — and retrieve ancient artifacts.
There is no word on which role Williams will play in the film, but Variety says “his character has a major stake in the franchise” and will serve as a co-starring role in a sequel should the first film be successful. Always putting the cart before the horse that Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Williams is one of four new names added to the cast of Paul Feig‘s new Ghostbusters film. The Wrap reports Williams, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh (“Veep”) and Cecily Strong (“Saturday Night Live”) have joined the cast of the film, which is now in production.
Garcia has been cast as the Mayor of New York City, Williams will play a character named Hawkins, Walsh will play a character named Rourke and Strong’s character has not yet been revealed.
The group joins Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth in the reboot/sequel/thing, which is set to release in theaters on July 22, 2016.
