Luke Evans has been featured in such recent films as Immortals, The Raven and The Three Musketeers, and this December he’ll be playing Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Adding to the filmography he will be going for even wider appeal as confirmed as production prepares to get underway shortly for a May 24, 2013 release.
Evans is filling in the role originally offered to Jason Statham as the leader of crew of thieves targeting the same heist job eyed by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and their gang as the film makes way for Europe with Germany already mentioned as one of the film’s possible locales.
The only confirmed member of Fast Five returning other than Diesel and Walker is Dwayne Johnson who will again play Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs with Haywire star Gina Carano playing a member of his team as he continues to hunt Toretto and his gang.
Following the tease at the end of Fast Five it has also been confirmed Michelle Rodriguez is coming back as Letty with Diesel already telling Entertainment Weekly, “It was very deliberate, the way the Letty character was handled in Fast 4… It was very deliberate that you never saw the body. When Dom confronts Fenix, he says, ‘I don’t remember her face because the last time I saw her she was burning’ — not, ‘I shot her in the f–ing head.’ You’re going to learn more in [Fast Six].”
It stands to assume additional member of the cast returning for the film would include Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges as Tej Parker, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Sung Kang as Han Lue, Tego Calderon as Tego Leo, Don Omar as Rico Santos and perhaps Gal Gadot as Gisele Harabo.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see the return of Eva Mendes as Monica Fuentes either.
Justin Lin will direct from a script written by Chris Morgan.
