The Casting Couch: Aug. 31, 2006

The latest casting bits have rolled in and we begin with a story out of The Hollywood Reporter that “Lost” star Harold Perrineau has signed on to star in Fox Atomic’s 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to 28 Days Later. The sequel finds Perrineau playing an upbeat American Special Forces pilot who documents and leads to safety the families returning to London after a similar viral outbreak to that in the first film. The film is eyeing a May 11, 2007 release. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Amanda Righetti is going to be playing the female lead in the sequel to 1999’s House on Haunted Hill, which is aptly named Return to House on Haunted Hill. The sequel is being directed by Victor Garcia and produced by Dark Castle Pictures and Silver Entertainment. The film begins shooting in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Sept. 11. Warner Bros. Pictures will release. No synopsis was available, but I have to assume some people go to a haunted house. [Variety]

David Ellis’ Asylum just got to more patients as Cody Kasch and Sarah Roemer join the 20th Century Fox production centering on a college dorm that used to be an insane asylum. [Variety]

Our final note finds Sam Robards starring in the indie feature Perestroika, a film written and to be directed by Slava Tsukerman. Filming begins in Moscow in early September and the film also stars F. Murray Abraham and Ally Sheedy of all people. [Variety]
