Natalie Portman Exits Wuthering Heights

Natalie Portman has dropped out of the adaptation of the classic Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights, reports Variety.

Her departure, which comes as a surprise given she was one of the project’s driving creative forces, is due to a scheduling conflict with another as-yet unannounced project.

The project is still set to start shooting in the fall, with British helmer John Maybury (The Edge of Love) helming. Olivia Hetreed has written the script.

Up-and-coming British actor Michael Fassbender is in advanced negotiations to play the lead male role of Heathcliff.
