Netflix is adding three classic horror slashers starring Courteney Cox today. Also starring Neve Campbell and David Arquette, this genre-defining trilogy has been a favorite for longtime horror fans.
The first three Scream movies have arrived on Netflix
The first three Scream movies have made their debut on Netflix today, July 24, 2026. The streamer announced the news last month, and the trilogy joins the platform just days after another popular horror franchise named Saw left the catalog on July 19.
The trilogy includes Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), and Scream 3 (2000). All three movies star Courteney Cox as an ambitious reporter, Gale Weathers, a role she played in all three movies in the franchise.
Originally released 30 years ago, Scream introduced fans to the horrifying Ghostface, one of the most iconic masked killers in horror history. The story follows a high school student, Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell), and her friends as they become targets of a mysterious killer wearing a Ghostface mask in their hometown.
As the story evolves, Sydney and her friends, along with reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Deputy Dewey Riley (David Arquette), try to uncover who is underneath the mask before it’s too late.
Scream 2 takes place two years later, with Sidney trying to get over her horrifying past while attending college. However, she is dragged into the same massacre by a copycat killer with a new series of murders. Gale and Dewey once again team up with Sidney and other survivors to stop the killer and save more lives.
Like its predecessor, the film continues the horror and comedy satire elements combined with the violence of the slasher genre.
Released in 2000, Scream 3 takes the meta-horror dynamic to Hollywood, where a new Ghostface begins targeting the cast of Stab 3, a slasher film based on Sidney’s traumatic past. As the body count rises, Gale, Dewey, and Sidney travel to Los Angeles to unravel the killer’s identity while uncovering deep-seated secrets from Sidney’s family history.
