The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is all set to return to theaters. While excitement is building among fans, the screening will be a one-night-only event.
The film’s synopsis reads, “Five youths on a weekend getaway in the Texas countryside on August 18, 1973, as they fall prey to a butcher in a mask made of human skin and his cannibalistic family.”

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre returns for a special one-night theatrical event
This summer, Dark Sky Films and Fathom Events will be bringing back the iconic 1974 film to the big screens. A new trailer for the film has also been released, while tickets for the special screening are also on sale. In a bid to provide fans with an enhanced experience, the film will be presented in 4K resolution. The film will screen for one night only on August 18, 2026, as part of Texas Chain Saw Day.
Horror movie fans will get a limited chance to experience director Tobe Hooper’s legendary work. Fans will also be able to watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, further enhancing their experience.
Interestingly, a new film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Obsession-fame director Curry Barker will be directing the untitled film and has openly talked about the 1974 film’s influence on the franchise.
Back in 1974, the movie had a production budget of $140,000. However, once it was released on the big screen, the crowd loved it to the fullest. Earning close to $26 million at the box office, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre became one of the greatest hits in the horror movie genre. The movie received a great honor recently as the Library of Congress called for the film’s preservation in the National Film Registry.
