A major 2024 horror release has finally joined Netflix today. Viewers will have another opportunity to relive the suspense on the streaming platform. The movie features Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn and is an extension of the successful A Quiet Place series.
A Quiet Place: Day One is now streaming on Netflix
A Quiet Place: Day One has officially debuted on Netflix today, on July 24, 2026. It is the prequel to the popular ‘A Quiet Place’ series, directed by Michael Sarnoski. It is one of the highest-grossing horror films of the past year. The movie has earned over $261 million at the global box office.
The movie tells the tale of a character, Sam, portrayed by Lupita Nyong’o, who finds herself trapped in New York during an alien invasion. The deadly creatures are very sensitive to sounds and kill people who make sounds. In the course of her struggle for survival, Sam meets another character, Eric, portrayed by Joseph Quinn.
In contrast to the previous movies, the prequel relocates the events into an urban environment where there is chaos. This adds more drama to the plot because it focuses on how people would behave in their first few hours after the onset of the worldwide disaster. In the film, Djimon Hounsou plays Henri once again, together with Alex Wolff and Eliane Umuhire.

A Quiet Place: Day One received lots of appreciation upon its theatrical release. This was due to the dramatic acting of Lupita Nyong’o, the suspenseful atmosphere created, and Michael Sarnoski’s direction.
The movie was highly successful both critically and commercially. It was made on an estimated budget of $67 million and brought in over $261 million from all around the world, with $139 million coming from North America and approximately $122 million coming from international markets.
