DCU is looking to amp up its superhero world with some quality releases. Following their reboot, the studio is preparing for a stacked lineup. In their latest update, a small teaser of Lanterns has added to fans’ excitement.
When is the new trailer for Lanterns being released?
DCU’s much-awaited TV show, Lanterns, is all set for release next month. Meanwhile, ahead of the product launch, the studio is looking to get the fans talking.
In a recent post on X, James Gunn could be seen promoting Lanterns. His words of encouragement were followed by a small teaser that provided a new glimpse into the upcoming show. Although the video was only 12 seconds long, Hal and John could be spotted putting their Green Lantern powers to good use.
In the little glimpse that the 12-second teaser provides, Hal can be seen wearing his suit. As the video plays on, a tornado-like construct can also be identified, whose origins remain unclear.
The video is a welcome surprise for fans, being the first instance where both Hal and John use their powers more than in any previous marketing materials. Adding to the excitement, HBO Max announced that the show will be getting a new trailer tomorrow, Friday. This syncs up perfectly with Lanterns’ San Diego Comic Con panel, which will also be held tomorrow.
According to new details from Entertainment Weekly, the plot of the series will center around two separate timelines. One of them will be set in 2016, where John is just a couple of months into his training. He joins Hal for an investigation that involves a Rushville shooting with a probable alien connection. Next up, there will also be a present-day, 2026 timeline. However, details for the same are not available at the moment, as the team will be dropping them sometime in the future.
Lanterns will premiere on HBO on August 16, 2026.
