Anthony Bourdain‘s biopic movie, Tony, is getting a series of free advance screenings ahead of its theatrical debut. Here’s how you can watch it before it actually launches in theaters.
How can Anthony Bourdain fans see Tony for free?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, A24 has announced that it will host a series of free advance screenings for Tony, its upcoming biographical comedy-drama. Called “Industry Night,” the event is being held in partnership with OpenTable and Square and is designed specifically for hospitality and restaurant workers.
The free screenings will take place on August 3 in 25 cities across the United States. Servers, line cooks, dishwashers, maître d’s, bartenders, and other front- and back-of-house restaurant workers will be invited through OpenTable and Square’s restaurant networks. Employees from other local restaurants will also receive invitations.
Each screening will be hosted by a notable local chef in its respective city. The cities include Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, and many more.
The best thing about these screenings is that they arrive well ahead of the film’s official rollout. Food service workers can also watch the film for free, which makes it even more exciting.
Directed by Matt Johnson, Tony follows a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain in his early working years in Provincetown. An aspiring writer joins as a local chef at a Cape Cod restaurant, learning under an enigmatic chef. Set amid the chaos of the kitchen and its close-knit staff, the film traces Bourdain’s journey toward becoming a global culinary icon.
The film stars Dominic Sessa in the lead role along with Emilia Jones. The supporting cast includes Dagmara Domińczyk, Rich Sommer, Stavros Halkias, Leo Woodall, and Antonio Banderas. Matt Johnson also co-wrote the film with Matthew Miller and two others. Johnson and Miller also serve as producers alongside Tim White and Trevor White.
Tony opens in limited release on August 7 before expanding nationwide on August 21.
