The IMAX 70mm format of The Odyssey will be a treat for Timothée Chalamet fans, as it will screen exclusive footage from Dune: Part Three ahead of the film. The special presentation includes the film’s official trailer and prologue footage, offering audiences a preview of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy conclusion ahead of its December 18, 2026, release.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “Dune: Part Three is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.”
Alongside Timothée Chalamet, Dune: Part Three stars Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem, and features newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke. Written by Villeneuve and Brian Vaughan, the film is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, and is produced by Legendary Pictures.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the legendary king of Ithaca, as he embarks on a perilous journey back to his wife Penelope after the decade-long Trojan War. It will also chronicle his encounters with mythical creatures such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the nymph Calypso. Matt Damon plays the lead in the upcoming film. Other members of the ensemble cast include Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Travis Scott as a bard, among others.
The Odyssey lands in theaters on July 17, 2026.
