Star Wars Fans Have New Reason to See The Mandalorian and Grogu in Theaters Again

Viewers now have an exciting new reason to watch The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters. Beginning this week, viewers will get more out of their screening of the movie than just Din Djarin’s galactic adventure.

Why are Star Wars fans going to want to see The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters again?

Starting June 5, viewers will be able to see The Mandalorian and Grogu with director’s commentary in theaters. For the film’s entire runtime, viewers can hear Jon Favreau’s insights and anecdotes about the making of the film. The new experience will be enabled by the TheaterEars app.

To use it, users will need to download the app and set it up with the screening showtime they’re attending. Once the film starts, viewers can plug earbuds into their phone and listen to the director’s commentary synced to the film through the app.

There is a caveat, though: the feature is currently only available to viewers in North America. Director’s commentaries are usually reserved for home releases, so this is an exciting chance to experience the same in theaters.

This isn’t the first time that a movie has partnered with TheaterEars for such an experience. Earlier this year, the app delivered director’s commentary for Project Hail Mary, synced with theatrical screenings. Beyond that, the app primarily offers alternative Spanish language audio for movies in theaters. It’s available for free on the Google Play Store and App Store.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is struggling at the box office, at least relative to the rest of the franchise. The film opened to $81.6 million and crashed hard in its second weekend. Industry estimates point to the film likely being unable to break even by the end of its run. The film is about to face stiff competition from Masters of the Universe, Toy Story 5, and Supergirl in the coming weeks.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is now playing in theaters.
