Battleship ranks high on Prime Video movie charts

Battleship is finding renewed success on streaming more than a decade after its theatrical release.

According to FlixPatrol, the Liam Neeson-led action film ranked No. 2 on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies chart in the United States on June 2, 2026. The film outperformed several high-profile titles on the platform. These include Despicable Me 4, Regretting You, Last Night on Earth, and One Battle After Another. Beyond that, Battleship also secured the No. 6 spot on Prime Video’s overall rankings.

Directed by Peter Berg, Battleship was released in theaters on May 18, 2012. The film follows Lieutenant Alex Hopper, a weapons officer aboard the USS John Paul Jones, who is participating in the 2012 RIMPAC exercises near Hawaii alongside his older brother, Stone Hopper, the commanding officer of the USS Sampson. Their routine military exercise is interrupted when five alien spacecraft arrive on Earth and enter the Pacific Ocean.

The arrival of the extraterrestrial fleet leads to a confrontation that disables the Navy’s radar capabilities and leaves military forces struggling to respond. As the alien armada begins carrying out its mission, American and Japanese naval personnel are forced to work together against an enemy equipped with advanced technology. Trapped in a battle off the coast of Hawaii, Alex and his fellow sailors must find a way to stop the invaders.

The film stars Taylor Kitsch as Alex Hopper and Alexander Skarsgård as Stone Hopper. Others include Rihanna as Cora Raikes, Brooklyn Decker as Samantha Shane, Tadanobu Asano as Yugi Nagata, and Liam Neeson as Admiral Terrance Shane.

Upon release, Battleship received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 33 percent critics score based on 222 reviews. Audience reactions were more stronger, resulting in a 54 percent audience rating on the platform.
