Has The Simpsons Season 38 Been Canceled or Renewed?

Many are wondering whether Fox has renewed or canceled The Simpsons for Season 38. This long-running animated sitcom follows the lives of a middle-class American family living in the fictional town of Springfield. As they navigate their daily lives, the show also explores broader themes, including society, culture, and human behavior. With Season 37 having wrapped up recently, fans are eager to know whether another season is on the horizon.

Has Fox canceled The Simpsons or renewed it for Season 38?

Fox had renewed The Simpsons for Season 38 back in April 2025.

When the audience was anticipating Season 37’s renewal, Fox announced that the show had been renewed for four seasons. The show was ordered for Seasons 37, 38, 39, and 40, which stretches its run until 2028–2029. The upcoming season, however, is expected to come out this fall. Per the sources, all four seasons will likely consist of 15 episodes each.

Marci Proietto, 20th Television Animation’s head, released a statement announcing the four-season renewal. She wrote, “This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at FOX is truly monumental for these iconic animated series. We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch, and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad,  and Bob’s Burgers for years to come” (via Deadline).

Season 37 concluded with Episode 15 titled “Homer? A Cracker Bro?” which premiered on February 15, 2026. It featured Homer befriending Kirk Van Houten, and they started a highly successful business together. However, when Homer’s new best friend’s dark secrets emerge, he has no option but to make a choice between his family and fortune. He also risks going to jail.
