Countdown revolves around the murder of an officer within the Department of Homeland Security. As such, LAPD detective Mark Meachum investigates the case with undercover agents. With the first season ending, fans have grown curious about a follow-up. So, is Countdown canceled or renewed for Season 2?
Here is everything you need to know about the potential next chapter of the crime drama series.
Is Countdown Season 2 canceled by Prime Video?
As of now, Countdown is neither canceled nor renewed by Prime Video for Season 2.
The series premiered on June 25, 2025. It has a total of 13 episodes. Fans want to know if there are more episodes lined up. This is because streaming platforms have been releasing their shows’ episodes in parts for hype. However, Countdown isn’t following this pattern. Season finale, titled “Your People Are in Danger,” will drop on September 3, 2025.
Further, fans have been looking forward to the show’s next chapters. However, Countdown is yet to be renewed for a second season. However, it has not been canceled yet either. In a recent interview with Bleeding Cool News, creator and showrunner Derek Haas opened up on the chances for Season 2. He stated, “Nothing new to share. I know there are a lot of fans over at Prime who really champion the show, so I’m hoping for great news, but not sure when the timing will be.” Haas further added, “Tell everyone who has been holding out for binging, now’s the time!”
Answering how fans should feel after the season finale, Haas stated, “Satisfied knowing that all the characters are okay and going to live long, happy, fulfilling lives!”
Season 2’s renewal mostly depends on the first season’s viewership numbers. If it has managed to do well on the viewership charts, Prime Video might roll out more chapters. However, fans must wait for an official announcement from producers.
