Girl’s Day Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol were among the most loved Korean celebrity couples. However, the dreamy love story of the K-pop and K-drama stars did not last, as they announced their breakup after six years of relationship.

Hyeri debuted in her music career 2010 as the youngest K-pop group Girl’s Day member. Within years of debuting, Hyeri gained fame and earned the ‘Nation’s Little Sister’ nickname from Korean fans. After thriving in her K-pop career, Hyeri ventured into K-drama and snagged one of the most prominent female lead roles in the 2015 drama Reply 1995.

The drama also became a significant part of Hyeri’s life. She met the actor Ryu Jun Yeol on the set and eventually developed feelings for him.

Lee Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol became friends while shooting for the drama Reply 1995, where they play the roles of Sung Deok-Sun and Kim Jung-Hwan, respectively. After the drama’s filming ended, the stars frequently interacted via social media, commenting on each other’s social media posts, and even received a trophy together at the 2016 tvN10 Awards.

After snagging the Rising Star Award trophies, Ryu Jun Yeol and Lee Hyeri shared a selfie, sending fans into a frenzy. A year later, in 2017, the pair confirmed their relationship. Ryu Jun Yeol’s agency stated: “Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri recently progressed from being friends to a couple, and they are still in the early stages of their relationship. We apologize to the fans for these surprise dating reports.”

Around the time, Dispatch revealed photos of Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol’s lake date showing the star pair’s cherished moments away from the limelight.

In 2019, Hyeri opened up about her relationship with Jun Yeol in an interview, saying, “Although we’re busy, we’re happily dating. I think I meet him as much as I meet the Girl’s Day members.”

While fans were happy for the couple, the pair ultimately announced the heartbreaking news of their split in November 2023. Ryu Jun Yeol’s agency, C-JeS Studios, and Hyeri’s label, Creative Group ING, commented on the breakup, noting, “It is true that they broke up.”
