A24’s Dicks: The Musical Release Date Gets Delayed

According to Deadline, A24 has decided to delay the release date for its upcoming raunchy comedy Dicks: The Musical, following its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Originally scheduled for a September 29 theatrical release, the musical film has been pushed back for a week and will now arrive in select theaters on October 6. This will be followed by its wide release on October 20.

What is Dicks: The Musical about?

“There’s no business like show business — except perhaps the business of selling the bristles and brushes for robot vacuums, a cutthroat industry that pits ‘confident heterosexual’ salesmen like Craig and Trevor against each other on a daily basis,” reads the synopsis from TIFF. “But before Craig can shove a hose in Trevor’s mouth and turn on the water, these two big-dicked blowhards come to the startling realization that they are fucking identical twins raised apart since birth.

“Fortunately, these are the perfect conditions to mount an old-fashioned parent trap, and so the pair swap lives to restore the nuclear family that they have long been denied. But can love still bloom between their eccentric mother, who is so old she carries her vagina around in a purse, and their closeted father, who is obsessively preoccupied with cannibalistic, humanoid, underground-dwelling sewer boys?”

Dicks: The Musical is based on the off-Broadway musical titled F***ing Identical Twins from Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson, who are also starring in the film adaptation. Joining Sharp and Jackson are Megan Thee Stallion, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang. This marks the Grammy-winning rapper’s feature acting debut.

The film is directed by Larry Charles from a screenplay written by Sharp and Jackson. It features original music from Sharp, Jackson, Marius de Vries. and Karl Saint Lucy.
