The series, which is still in development and will be co-written by Wu and Henwick, is being described as “Pleasantville meets Nancy Drew” and will center on a frustrated Asian-American YA novelist who finds herself transported into one of her books and has to work with her titular character, who she’s come to despise, to solve an unfinished mystery.

In addition to co-writing the potential series, Wu and Henwick are set to executive produce the project alongside Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon and will be a co-production between Amazon Studios and Vertigo. The project marks the latest collaboration between the streaming platform and Vertigo as they are currently developing an adaptation of The Promised Land and have the Lena Waithe-produced horror anthology Them in the works, the latter of which is also being executive produced by Sony Pictures Television.Wu has been a writer and producer on a number of big-name TV projects in the past decade, with previous credits including ABC’s short-lived magician-centered procedural Deception, The CW’s The Flash and NBC’s Hannibal and is currently co-executive producer on Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Paper Girls, as well as Carnival Row and creator of Netflix’s The Ghost Bride.

Henwick found her rise to stardom initially with a recurring role on HBO’s Game of Thrones before landing the key role of Colleen Wing in Netflix’s Marvel universe on Iron Fist, followed by appearances in The Defenders and Luke Cage. After a cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the 27-year-old actress began landing bigger roles on the big screen the past year with the aquatic horror-thriller Underwater, which hit theaters in January, as well as the upcoming Godzilla vs. KongMonster Problems and The Matrix 4.
