At WWE WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes‘ story reached a glorious end as he defeated Roman Reigns. The WWE Universe witnessed one of the most dramatic WrestleMania main events, filled with surprises and excitement.
After losing at WWE WrestleMania 40 on night one against The Rock and Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes faced Roman Reigns in a Bloodline Rules match on night two. Rhodes had a significant challenge for him.
The match kicked off with Rhodes and Reigns exchanging near pinfalls, ramping up the excitement. Things took a turn when Jimmy Uso interfered, attacking Rhodes, only for Jey Uso to intervene on Cody’s behalf. Their scuffle escalated as Jey speared Jimmy off the ramp onto the tables below.
Rhodes gained momentum against Reigns until Solo Sikoa made a surprise appearance, executing a Samoan Spike reminiscent of WrestleMania 39. Despite this setback, Rhodes kicked out. John Cena rushed in, clearing the ring of Sikoa and hitting Reigns with an attitude adjustment in the ring and Solo Sikoa through the announcers’ table.
Amidst the stadium’s rising energy, The Rock emerged, confronting Cena and delivering a Rock Bottom. As he turned towards Rhodes with the title belt in hand, The Shield’s theme echoed, but Reigns intercepted Seth Rollins with a Superman punch, saving The Rock.
Just as The Rock prepared to strike Rhodes, The Undertaker‘s gong echoed through the stadium, igniting the crowd as he choke-slammed The Rock. Following these electrifying moments, Reigns, Rhodes, and Rollins found themselves in the ring with a chair. Reigns initially considered attacking Rhodes but shifted his focus to Rollins, seeking payback for breaking up The Shield.
Reigns went for a spear, but Rhodes countered by executing three Cross Rhodes. With Reigns stunned, Rhodes capitalized and pinned him, finally finishing his story by capturing the WWE Universal Championship.
