CM Punk’s Thoughts on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns

Due to an injury, CM Punk, who is currently sidelined, will be missing WWE WrestleMania 40. However, he will be seen in the commentary box during the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.

Recently, he expressed his thoughts on the current WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Although CM Punk and Roman Reigns have not faced off since Punk’s WWE return, they have exchanged verbal jabs, and fans anticipate their eventual showdown in the wrestling ring in the future.

During his appearance on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, CM Punk discussed his relationship with Roman Reigns. He stated, “It’s all business, baby. I’m not here to make friends. I have some friends from my prior ten years. If I make friends along the way, that’s sprinkles on top of the cupcake. I’m here to do business and make money. The ironic thing about that. You wind up becoming friends with the people you make money with.”

Fans are familiar with the ongoing rivalry between CM Punk and Roman Reigns. In 2014, during the “Art of Wrestling” podcast, CM Punk’s notable statement “make Roman look strong” hinted at WWE’s intention to position Roman Reigns as the next face of the promotion. This strategy led to some fans turning against Reigns during his early singles career.

Additionally, on the “Loaded Management” podcast in 2020, Reigns mentioned that this comment from Punk “made my job a lot harder” and is likely a contributing factor to why he doesn’t have much fondness for Punk.

Roman Reigns recently threw shade at WWE Superstar CM Punk

Roman Reigns has not faced CM Punk in the ring yet, but he hasn’t shied away from taking shots at Punk’s recent injury. During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Reigns targeted the injured WWE star CM Punk. This happened when a “Punk” chant erupted during the interview, prompting Reigns to gesture toward his arm. He expressed, “I’m living my dream, man. This is what I wanted my whole life,” he started. “So I’m not one of them people that once I got there it just wasn’t what I expected; I’m not like CM Punk where I got to the top of the mountain, it’s not like, ‘Oh it’s not what I expect so I’mma b*tch about it.’ No, once you reach your goals, enjoy the dream. This is what you’ve been working for, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

While CM Punk is not scheduled to compete at WWE WrestleMania, he will be part of the kickoff shows on both nights and provide commentary during Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre’s match. On the other hand, Roman Reigns is scheduled to headline both nights of the show.
