WWE Superstar John Cena’s The Marine on Netflix Global Chart

The 2006 WWE film, “The Marine,” featuring none other than the legendary John Cena, has stormed its way into the Netflix global chart. While John Cena has since become a Hollywood star with his recent popular roles in and as Peacemaker and the Fast & Furious franchise, it seems fans are revisiting or discovering Cena’s roots as “The Marine.”

The film, produced by WWE’s own Vince McMahon, follows a discharged marine on a mission to rescue his kidnapped wife from jewel thieves, marking John Cena’s debut in the acting and movie business.

While the movie initially faced criticism for being “exaggerated” or “so bad it’s good,” it appears that fans have either rediscovered or found newfound reasons to enjoy Cena’s action-packed debut on the big screen.

The Marine recently stormed its way into the Netflix Global Top 10 for the week of December 18 to 24. With a staggering 7.6 million hours viewed, Cena’s action-packed debut ranked 10th on the list.

This unexpected surge in popularity suggests that many viewers stumbled upon the WWE film for the first time during the Christmas holiday.

Did John Cena feature in The Marine installments?

As “The Marine” recently made its way into the Netflix Global Top 10 for the week of December 18 to 24, achieving impressive numbers in hours viewed, the film has plenty more action ahead. The question that arises here is, does John Cena feature or star in those upcoming films?

Although the original grossed $22 million against a $15 million budget, however, the franchise shifted to feature WWE Superstars like Ted DiBiase, Jr. in “The Marine 2,” which came out in 2009, and The Miz in sequels from 2013 to 2018, where he featured in four movies.

With renewed fan interest, the question arises whether WWE will choose Cena or introduce a new superstar for future productions. Only time will tell.
