Exclusive: Whoopi Goldberg Talks Mother Abigail in The Stand Special Features Clip

ComingSoon is excited to debut an exclusive clip from Paramount+’s limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. The series is arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on October 5 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, including all nine episodes along with an exclusive gag reel and a featurette titled “An Apocalyptic Epic: Adapting The Stand.” The exclusive clip from the featurette highlights star Whoopi Goldberg talking about playing Mother Abigail.

The Stand is Stephen King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil,” reads the official synopsis. “The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.”

Also arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on October 5 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment is The Stand 2-Pack, featuring the original Emmy Award-winning 1994 miniseries and the 2020 adaptation.

Along with Goldberg, the series also stars Alexander Skarsgård, James Marsden, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Greg Kinnear, Irene Bedard, and Nat Wolff. Guest stars include Eion Bailey, Heather Graham, Katherine McNamara, Fiona Dourif, Natalie Martinez, Hamish Linklater, and Daniel Sunjata.

Created by Benjamin Cavell and Josh Boone and produced by CBS Television Studios, The Stand was executive produced by Cavell, Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee, and Richard P. Rubinstein. Producers included Jake Braver, Jill Killington, Owen King, Knate Lee, and Stephen Welke. Boone served as director and executive producer for the series premiere and final episode. A new coda written by King closes out the adaptation.
